Your Career Built These Protections. Use Them.
Three critical federal safety nets designed to preserve your income and retirement annuity.
Federal employees under FERS and CSRS are covered by comprehensive medical and wage protection systems that differ vastly from the private sector. Whether you are dealing with a permanent medical condition preventing useful and efficient service, a traumatic workplace injury, or need job-protected leave to care for yourself or family, understanding federal statutory guidelines is vital.
Navigating the Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP) or filing a FERS Disability Retirement application package with OPM requires meticulous medical documentation and agency coordination. PWR Retirement Group guides you through every step to ensure your benefits are preserved.
“Most federal employees don't lose their benefits because they aren't entitled to them. They lose them because no one ever explained the proper documentation process.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers to the most common questions federal employees ask regarding this service.
Yes. FERS disability applicants are required by law to apply for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). If approved for both, your FERS disability annuity is offset: In Year 1, FERS pays 60% of High-3 minus 100% of SSDI. In Year 2 and beyond, FERS pays 40% of High-3 minus 60% of SSDI.
Yes! Unlike SSDI which severely limits earnings, FERS disability retirees are permitted to earn up to 80% of the current salary of the federal position from which they retired through private employment.
Form CA-1 is filed for a traumatic injury caused by a specific event or work incident occurring during a single work shift. Form CA-2 is filed for an occupational disease or illness that develops over more than one work shift due to environmental conditions or repetitive duties.
